ALASKAN RAINBOW TROUT ADVENTURE
ALASKA WILDERNESS OUTPOST is a rustic tent-based camp located on the Bering Sea (Bristol Bay) side of the Alaska Peninsula and offers excellent small stream fishing for the stunning Alaskan “leopard” rainbow trout and the massive king salmon. Short on frills, this program is for the die-hard fisherman focused on quality fishing opportunities rather than extraneous amenities.
Located inland in the middle of the open tundra with a dramatic mountain backdrop, this watershed is reminiscent of a spring creek with consistent clear water flows and not only produces quality rainbow trout and monster king salmon, but also generates big grayling and arctic char/dolly varden, as well as sockeye, chum and pink salmon. Daily hikes across the tundra are required to access different sections of this quaintly sized and wadeable river, but don’t let the word “quaint” fool you because this is definitely 10 weight water!
ALASKA WILDERNESS OUTPOST may be primitive compared to the
typical Alaskan fishing lodge, but this reasonably priced,
pristine and uncrowded fishing program is far from typical.
Especially when you factor in the helicopter access to/from
camp, (which minimizes any flying-related weather delays).
The bottom line is with only 6 anglers per week, you will
experience some of the best small stream fishing found anywhere
in Alaska.
